A Bit About Who We Are:
Heart of Essex is one of the 700 choruses of Sweet Adelines International, a worldwide non-profit organization dedicated to teaching a capella 4-part harmony under the leadership of director Julie Banfill. In 1985 we chartered and placed 13th. In 1990 and 1993 we won most improved chorus. We have won 6th place 4 times. In 1996 we reached 500 points in the Chorus Contest. In 1999 we won 3rd place in the Small Chorus Division. In 2007 we won third place in the Mid Size Chorus and a medal. In 2008 we placed 2nd in mid size chorus. In 2009 we placed 4th out of 15 choruses.
We are mothers, nurses, secretaries, teachers, sales clerks, CPA's and more. On Wednesday evenings, at Maplewood School in Essex, Ontario, we are the HEART OF ESSEX CHORUS! We are approximately 45 women having a great time preparing for competitons and performances. Over the past 24 years we have performed for hundreds of organizations throughout Essex County. We have even been in local parades where we have won first prize trophies!
Our musical art form is known as "acapella", four-part harmony or barbershop style. We need no accompaniment. The HEART OF ESSEX CHORUS continues to be active in the community performing at many functions.
Mission Statement:
